Many characteristics make up who you are. Your palette is not permanent. You choose which and how much of each characteristic to use in any given situation to achieve your identified result. For example, when you are under stress, you might want to draw more from your experience and less from your fears or if you are making an important decision, you might want to draw more from your learning and your Self and less from your ego and your style.
